‘Agents of Liberation’ was the theme on 10th September 2023, as the Teachers took an active role in the Sung Matins. They sang special songs, preached, and shared their experience. Teachers in the congregation – active and retired – were felicitated by the congregation.

Annual Thanksgiving Festival 2023 

On 3rd September, Annual Thanksgiving Festival 2023 began with a special Sung Eucharist, with the congregation gathering to thank God for His bountiful blessings and mercies throughout the year. The morning service was followed by a Sale, Bible Quiz and other fun activities.

Choir Sunday

Choir Sunday was observed on 27th August 2023 in the morning worship service. The choristers sang many old and new worship songs and hymns on the theme ‘Walk with God’ and took an active role in the morning service. A video recording of the service can be viewed on the Church’s YouTube channel.

Women’s Sunday

‘Women as change-makers’ was the theme of Women’s Sunday on 20th August 2023. Members of the Women’s Fellowship participated in the morning service, singing special songs in Tamil and English. This was followed by a testimony and sermon-in-parts by the women.

Flag-hoisting on Independence Day

On the morning of August 15th 2023, the Presbyter, parishioners, and a group of schoolchildren and teachers from St. Thomas Nursery & Primary School gathered to celebrate India’s 76th anniversary of winning independence with song, prayer, flag-hoisting and the sharing of the Word of God.

Men’s Fellowship Sunday 

On Sunday, 30th July 2023, the members of the Men’s Fellowship of our Church participated in the service. They sang songs of praise – ‘What a beautiful name it is’, ‘Neer vandhal’ and ‘Hiding place’. The sermon was by Dr. Edward Kennedy.

Easter Musical – The Upper Room

On Palm Sunday evening, the STEC Choir presented their annual Passion Recital with an interesting twist. Their rendering of John W Peterson’s cantata ‘The Upper Room’ was accompanied by a play, complete with choristers in costumes, props and two donkeys in tow. Click here to watch the recording.

Ecumenical Palm Sunday Procession 

The STEC congregation joined together with the National Shrine of St. Thomas Cathedral Basilica and CSI St. Thomas Tamil Church, in an ecumenical procession on Palm Sunday morning. Waving palm branches, they sang and walked through the streets of Santhome – from St. Raphael’s School to the Church premises.
