Rev. V. Paul Birla
A first generation Christian, Rev. Paul Birla’s father Mr. J.K. Velu was a Hindu who accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour while he was serving at the C.L.S Book Shop.
Rev. Paul Birla received a call to take up full time Pastoral Ministry while he was studying for his under-graduation at Loyola College. He completed his Bachelor in Divinity (B.D.) at Union Biblical Seminary, Pune and was ordained by the Rt. Rev. Dr. M. Azariah, Bishop in Madras in 1994. Rev. Birla has so far built 18 Churches and has served as a Director for the Seafarers Ministry and as Associate Director in the Board of Mission and Evangelism during the time when the ‘Anti-conversion Bill’ was passed. The University of Bethlehem and Jerusalem recognised his ministry for the Lord and conferred an Honorary D. Min Degree.
Rev. Paul Birla’s wife Mrs. M. Ranjitham, M.A., B.Ed., is serving as Headmistress at the C.S.I Middle School on Adam Street in Mylapore, Chennai. She is a dynamic singer and a talented Counsellor and Preacher. Her teaching ministry was recognised and appreciated by the Diocesan Education Department, Rotary International Club and Lioness Club.
Rev. Paul Birla and Mrs. Ranjitham have 2 Sons. The elder son is P.B. Emmanuel Levi. He is planning to pursue his studies in music and he also plays the organ and rhythm instruments. Their younger son P.B. Samuel Jebanesan is currently a student of B.A., Philosophy (Final Year) at Madras Christian College, Tambaram. He also plays the organ, guitar and rhythm instruments.
